Tucked away in a longer article about drivers past, present & hypothetical, on Grandprix.com, Zak makes an admission that he hopes his current drivers get the inevitable head to head out of the way sooner rather than later.

I'm sure we're all waiting with baited breath too.  :D

Anyone care to suggest when & where it might happen?

I'm putting my money on Canada, so long as the weather don't play tricks again.  ;)

Brown also admitted he is keen to get the first on-track clash between teammates and title rivals Piastri and Norris out of the way. I don't think it's going to be as exciting as everyone thinks, and I think it will just be a racing incident, he said.

I think it's inevitable, but neither of them is a hothead, so it doesn't worry us and, to a certain extent, we're eager to get this thing over with.

We're only 5 races in but current data shows Oscar the more likely of the Macca pilots to claim the prize from Max, so says Luke Slater of the Daily Telegraph.

It may be early in the season for such predictions but Piastri is certainly stringing together a fine set of results both in Quali & races.

I'm sold on Oscar's credentials as a future Champ, will this be his year though, or is it to early to say?   :DntKnw:

Hamilton's Neat Burger vegan chain is closing all of its UK locations.

Lewis helped launch Neat Burger six years ago, with Hollywood A-lister Leonardo DiCaprio, the first outlet opened near Regent Street, London in 2019. It claimed to be “the first international, plant-based burger chain”.

But after suffering “substantial losses” in 22, 23 & presumably 24, all remaining UK branches are set to close their doors for good.

Perhaps people are just not ready to give up Meat, Lewis.  :D

Phil Hill is who we are talking about of course.
But then all the drivers named Hill to win an F1 WDC are/were very nice chaps too.  :good:

Phil won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 1961 with Ferrari, and won three Grands Prix across eight seasons.

In endurance racing, Hill was a three-time winner of both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring, all with Ferrari. Upon winning the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1964 with NART, Hill became the first driver to complete the Triple Crown of endurance racing.

First up, I know that the majority of the world isn't Christian, and if F1 bowed to everyone's religious calendar, there'd never be any racing at all.  But why was there a race on Easter weekend?  It's hard to get into the event when I've got other things going on.

Heroes
Piastri.  Solid race win.  I'm not 100% convinced the incident with Max was anything but a racing incident, and really, with the safety car, Max should've given the spot back and then who knows what happens?  Oscar ran the race he was given, and that's all you can do.

Max.  Ran a great race, the FIA all but requires drivers to whine on the radio, so can't blame him for that, no matter how much I want to.  on the Sky commentary Martin Brundle called Max out for purposefully making it look like Oscar ran him off the road.  I don't see it, but I know that Brundle knows the drivers better than most, and if he says that Max could do that, I believe him.

LeClerc.  Given that McLaren is the class of the field, everyone else feels like they're in damage limitation until they can get car upgrades that work.  Damage limited for Charles.  He drove the race he had and did it well.

Honestly, for the most part the top ten did well.  Lewis Hamilton making Norris look like a rookie was fun.  Alonso dicing with his protege was weird.  I think F1 has a lot of 'conflict of interest' relationships with people in different capacities 'managing' drivers.

Zeroes
Tsunoda.  I know that Lap 1 has a lot of 'racing incidents' that are hard to assign blame, but I feel like Tsunoda should be experienced enough to have avoided that crash.

Stroll.  He jokes that he's the worst qualifier of all time because he's had the worst cars of all time.  A lack of self awareness there.

Officiating.  I feel like in F1 that the calls are coming late.  I understand that getting the calls 'right' is important, but it's a fast sport, and getting a call in a timely manner matters.  In baseball they have a concept of 'tie goes to the runner', that in a case where the umpire can't tell a close call, he'll give the call to the offence over the defence.  Slo-mo replays might show he was wrong, but most of the time baseball just accepts the call and moves on.  F1 needs to figure that out, if the call is very close, and taking a long time to weigh, make a call, get on with it.  Decide if they're going to favour the leading or passing car, and let that determine 'close' calls.  Heck, before each season or even each event, let the drivers vote on who gets the benefit of a close call.  Just make sure everyone understands.  The officials are human, and the fans want decisiveness more than accuracy (of course, accuracy is important).  Sure, some drivers will game the system, but they'll be caught, and we'll have villains.  Sponsors and fans will decide if that behaviour is rewarded or punished.

F1 commission to meet next week to discuss potential shortcomings of Battery recharge rate on the 50/50 power split on 26 PU. A change to 64/36 is mooted in favour of ICE.

Whilst red Bull are the only ones to put their heads above the parapet to comment on the subject there must be others who are having doubts for the commission to discuss it.

Red Bull, although allied with Ford in the engine project, are the only non road car company in this equation so perhaps they are able to put into the open what others don't wish to admit.

Merc on the other hand may not have cracked the problem either & are putting on a brave face.  - If rules changed by majority they can always say we just go with flow. - If rules not changed & it's disastrous for all next year they can blame the poorly conceived Regs with no damage to reputation.

Of course it's possible Merc have the edge and want to stop rule change by any means possible, seems unlikely though as only rear wheels can be used for re-gen unlike WEC cars using both axles.

Well Andrew Benson of BBC Sport believes he may.  :o

Not a bad idea really to take a sabbatical, if he's in a position to invoke performance related exit, he'll be able to see winners & losers from new engine & chassis regs.
