From what I've been reading on other sites it looks like Briatore is running a timeshare scheme with the 2nd Alpine seat.
Doohan had 6 races now Colapinto has got 5 races, Jack's backers reportedly paid $10 mill, wonder how much Franco's sponsors have had to put in pot to get him in car?
If Colapinto is no better then who can we expect to be in the seat for the next 5/6 races? Wonder if Mick Schumacher has any money left in the pot to make a bid.
10 million is peanuts for the Schumacher fortune

I wonder if this is why Sainz Sr said that this year's Dakar might be his last.
Would be pretty bad ass if the FIA president was an active competitor. Wayyy too much conflict of interest, but would still be very cool.

With the amount of damage FC did at Williams he'll need to clean up his act!
Hard to single Colapinto out for crashing the FW46: Sargent and Albon couldn't keep it on the road either. The FW47 seems to have fixed whatever the issue was, and surprise surprise, Williams is getting good points. In ice hockey, the 'best' goaltenders usually put in some time playing for bad teams, making them work harder, and being much more successful when finally on good teams. I wonder if that's true for racing drivers going from bad cars to good cars having a leg up on drivers who have always had 'good' cars?

There are reports that Carlos Sainz Sr is angling for the FIA presidency. Honestly, I don't know enough about him to say if that's a good or bad idea, but he's got to be an upgrade to the current office holder. I don't know if the FIA has any bylaws to reflect he would have influence over a series his family competes in. I'm guessing with the level of corruption these international agencies usually have, there isn't and if there is, they're rarely enforced. (Not to suggest that Sainz would do anything untoward. Just make sure everything seems fair) https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/13363345/carlos-sainz-sr-emerges-as-candidate-to-become-fia-president-ahead-of-december-2025-election

Certainly a lot going on with Team Enstone, between swapping Doohan out for Colapinto and Oakes 'resigning'.
They've been very unstable for years now, and as a team with a history of success, and ownership also with a history of success, I'm sure it's been very frustrating for all involved.
Doohan didn't have a great start to his F1 career, but I feel like he was let down by the team as much as he let them down. It'll be a tough ask for Colapinto to step in and prove he's an upgrade unless he's consistently beating Gasly (in which case Gasly should be worried about losing to a rookie!)

It makes sense that Cadillac can't do more with 2026 cars than any other team. If a new team gets an advantage, what stops Williams from closing operations at the end of 2025 and selling their team to Billiams who spends all of 2025 developing the 2026 car?
Now if F1 was desperate for new teams, then it would make sense to be generous to new teams, but Cadillac was brought on with surprising reluctance, and giving them special treatment probably would have caused more problems for them to join the grid. Maybe if Haas had struggled like expected in their first season instead of putting up respectable results, people wouldn't be as concerned with a new team getting a leg up.
