Title: Coming soon to the USGP: Fred Durst Society of the Humanities and Arts
Post by: Jericoke on February 14, 2011, 03:18:22 PM
I know there are some who are not fond of the idea of an F1 race in Texas.

I'm not entirely sure if this is a good thing, or a bad thing, but for your enjoyment:

The city of Austin wanted to rename Austin's Solid Waste Services (garbage) something a little more appealing.  So, they did what every one else does these days, and held an online poll.  The top vote getter, as a write in, was the Fred Durst Society of the Humanities and Arts, for the lead singer of Limp Bizkit.

So... is this the kind of place Bernie wants to set up shop?

Is this the kind of place that knows how to have some FUN?

Or is this the kind of place that has completely lost any semblance of control over civic matters?

Autin is a fine town. It's unofficial city slogan is Keep Austin Wierd

There are lots of fun cities in the world. Sticking a Tilke turd out in the middle of nowhere at the end of a two lane dirt farm road doesn't make them a good F1 site.

I think you'll find most European F1 so called heritage or classic tracks started in such circumstances, they probably just had cow turds though.  :D :DD :DD

Perhaps Austin may turn out to be an OK F1 destination, once we see how the first race turns out.

Actually, at most classic F1 venues, they didn't build a track at the end of a rural 2 lane, they just raced down the 2 lane.
