Guenther Steiner has confirmed that Haas is talking to Robert Kubica about a test driver slot for next season.
“Yes, we are speaking. We were speaking about a role in our team as a test (driver) and need to develop the simulator still. We are at a decent point but we need to make the next step as well. He is for sure one of the most qualified to do that. That’s what we’re discussing.”
Kubica could also be a club to hold over current drivers Grosjean and Magnussen in case they start playing bumper cars again. Their current tester, Pietro Fittipaldi, doesn't have a Super License. He can't step in to replace a misbehaving driver. Robert could on very short notice.

I wasn’t impressed with Kubica this year. Sure, he had to make the most of the pig of a car he had to race, but way too many driver errors. Maybe as a test driver if he is good at helping development, but I wouldn’t worry about K-Mag or Grosjean’s positions.
