Nice to hear that here are so many Ferrari and Fisico fans! :yahoo: I look forward the start of the season how our team will do. massa has done good times in practise.alonso...i am not sure about him because he came to the team with santander's money. he is two time world champion but the car is different to drive, not like his former Renault. this season testing is also banned during the season so it takes more time from Fernando to cope with the car. :DntKnw:

As dare said, I'm a Fisico supporter too :) Though I will admit my favourite team is Force India.

I'm less worried about how Fernando will adapt to the car as I am about how he will adapt to the team. He does like his teams to work with a certain dynamic that... ...Ferrari does not appear to have. Fortunately Fernando will be able to ask Giancarlo if he gets stuck trying to figure out how to get the best out of this unique group of people.

Thanks for the image link, cosworth! you have had good camera because those pics are so sharp. was is that US GP when it was mess with tyre producters and there were only 6 cars at the race. i remember that fiasco but it was made for drivers security too. fisi was one of those drivers who didn't attend because his tyre mark was out from the race.

Alianora, nice to meet you here :D. hopefully new Fisi sites opens soon!

Thanks, gato. I've been a camera buff since I was young. That picture was taken in 2007, the last year they had an F1 race at Indy. The tire fiasco was in 2005. I was there for that one, too!  :-[

One feature of the USGP at Indy was a pit walk about on Thursday morning. An autograph sessions with all of the drivers was part of the walk about. That was where I took the picture.

Here's the interview of Jean Alesi.http://www.lemans-series.com/fr/s03_actual...e.php?news=1295 (http://www.lemans-series.com/fr/s03_actual...e.php?news=1295).
He speaks about Fsico and says it's motivating for him to be in one team with his friend. Jean's a really nice guy.
Actually a lot of Fisico's fans in Russia supported Alesi when he raced in F1. And now I know why ;)

Ital-Gala, unfortunately I couldn't get the link to work because for some reason it got shortened. Here is the actual link (interview in French) (http://www.lemans-series.com/fr/s03_actualites/s03p02_detail_actualite.php?news=1295).

Here is a translation (particularly necessary since the computerised translation into English is so bad it's funny):

A new challenge for Jean Alesi

Frenchman Jean Alesi, F1 driver for eleven years (201 races), is going to participate in this season's Le Mans Series. As you know, the old F1 pilot will be steering a Ferrari F430 GT with the AF Corsica team. For this seventh season of Le Mans Series, the tricolour will fly next to Toni Vilander and Giancarlo Fisichella, Scuderia Ferrari reserve driver.

Jean Alesi was kind enough to answer our questions.

LMS: How did the opportunity to participate in the Le Mans Series appear?

JA: Discussions with Team AF Corsican started last year, when I was in the UAE for a Speedcar Series test. Then, Amato Ferrari allowed me to do a test with one of the team's Ferrari. This test was performed at Fiorano last October and it went perfectly. I was really delighted to take the wheel of this car!

LMS: How did you feel taking the wheel of the Ferrari F430?

JA: I was very comfortable, very trusting because the car is easy to drive, it is very well balanced. This test was very conclusive and I enjoyed driving.

LMS: How do you see this new season?

JA: Le Mans Series is a new championship for me, it is therefore going to be necessary me to take new landmarks but I have the chance to develop in Team AF Corsica, a very experienced team! I am surrounded with good champions in this category, I am going to share the steering wheel with my friend Giancarlo, a very good pilot therefore I should fast find my marks!

LMS: What effect does it have on you to start the Le Mans Series on the stage of your 1st GP, and very close to Avignon?

JA: It is a great combination of circumstances! Starting the Le Mans Series in Paul Ricard is a bit of a return to the beginning, and it is a very nice twinkle in my career in F1. And that's true, the circuit of Paul Ricard is not very far from Avignon, I will therefore have friends and fans to support each other!

LMS: Several constructors will be present in GT2, the battle is therefore going to be very gripping. With Ferrari, is the objective to recover Title GT2 from this year?

JA: It is a privilege that to develop within so competitive a structure as Team AF Corsica; naturally, the objective is to take the title in GT2 at the end of season.

LMS: You are going to share the steering wheel with Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander, a trio of shock and a team in future...

JA: Giancarlo is a friend, while we share the car, it is very rewarding because we understand each other very well. Toni Vilander, to be frank, I still do not know very well but he is nice and very accessible. I am sure that we are going to live 3 every an exciting season in Le Mans Series!

LMS: And to finish, Jean Alesi took part in a game of Chinese portrait. Unusual questions and instantaneous answers of a pilot ready to confront one of the most overdemanding disciplines in the world!

If I was:

- a colour: green
- a circuit: Suzuka
- a film: Larry Flint
- a cooked food: lasagna
- an actor: Stallone
- a singer: Madonna
- a work of art: the pictures of Keith Haring because I love Pop Art very much
- a memory of F1: my 1st GP of F1
- a wish for this season LMS on 2010: carry off title GT2 with Team AF Corsica

Well... ...my French is slightly limited (having only studied it for 3 years at secondary school) and the translator was claiming such gems as Alesi having done 201 shopping. A mistranslation may have occurred, though it did seem vaguely plausible so I opted not to change it.

Linking to stuff in other languages is absolutely fine. After all, it's not like this interview appeared to be available in English. I just took the initiative and decided I'd better provide a translation that made sense (as opposed to the mish-mash the translator decided was apt).

Fisi will be taking part in the Le Mans Series this season with the Team AF Corsica. Is this a new team? I did a search on the 2009 24 hours Le Mans and found out that there was no such team last year. However the different teams that compete using Ferrari won the top 4 places in the GT2 category.  :DntKnw:

The team has been around since 2002. They've raced in FIA GT 2. The last few years, they ran at Le Mans. Last year, they also ran at Sebring. This will be their first year to run the full season in the Le Mans Series. I don't know if they will be at Sebring for the race this year, but they aren't on the list for the winter test session that will be held there starting on Monday the 22nd.

There is an article in autosport.com last week that confirms both Fisi and Alesi will be taking part in a test session for Le Mans series on 26/2/2010.

Giancarlo Fisichella and Jean Alesi will test Ferrari 430s at Vallelunga later this month in preparation for their Le Mans Series GT2 campaigns with the manufacturer this year.

Fisichella will race in the LMS alongside his commitments as Ferrari's test and reserve driver in Formula 1. He will be making his debut with the AF Corse team at the Italian track on February 26.

Alesi, who raced for Ferrari in F1 between 1991 and 1995, has already tested with AF Corse last October but will continue to add mileage as he prepares for his first season of GT racing.

I also like this poster ::)
Yeah) It must be Panis) In his recent interview he said this season'd be special for him. He's really happy to see Fisi and Jean and to race with them. He stresses that it's good for LMS and he hopes he'll be able to race against them in LMP1)))

It's really good that a lot of good drivers appreciate Giancarlo

I remember Panis from F1, he is very friendly to other drivers. they all are almost in same age so they get along well together and they have common topics to speak. ;)

It turns out that Giancarlo's already done some race car testing this year... According to Speed TV (http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/f1-fisichella-tests-ferrari-f10-at-jerez), two days of promotional filming that had previously been assumed to involve Felipe Massa at the wheel (on the grounds that it was Felipe's helmet in the car) was actually Giancarlo's first go in the new Ferrari. This happened at the start of this week.

Since the team was recording promotional material, none of the mileage is deemed "testing" by the FIA's definition of the word. There were no times, in keeping with the promotional nature of the running, but given the amount of rain at the time, we probably couldn't have read anything into the times had they existed.

In short, Fisico is keeping himself pretty busy :)

Interview of Giancarlo Fisichella, a new racing driver in Le Mans Series
Giancarlo Fisichella, the Ferrari F1 reserve driver will be at the steering wheel of the Ferrari F430 GT2 during the Le Mans Series season.

Giancarlo Fisichella won three Grand Prix (Brazil 2003, Australia 2005 and Malaysia 2006). He is 37 years old and has a fantastic career history: 18 times on the podium in Formula 1 (194 GP)  :o & raced in 7 different teams (Minardi, Jordan, Benetton, Sauber, Renault, Forces India and Ferrari) between 1996 and 2008.

Giancarlo will make his debuts in Endurance racing in a few weeks and accepted to answer our questions.

LMS to GC.F: « How did you get the opportunity to participate in the Le Mans Series championship? »

GC.F: «Ferrari gave me this great opportunity and I am very excited to race in a new Series.»

LMS to GC.F: «Can we say that it's a new start for you?»

GC.F: «It is even if I had a fantastic experience in DTM just before starting in Formula one. So I'm already used to race with a roof over my head.»

LMS to GC.F: « What do you think about the Ferrari F430? »

GC.F: « I believe it's the best GT Car in the world, on and off the race track.»

LMS to GC.F: «Endurance racing is new for you, how do you feel at the beginning of the season?»

GC.F: «Very interested in learning all about the new series and to race sharing the cockpit is really new to me.»

LMS to GC.F: « Endurance races are much longer than F1 races, will you have special training?»

GC.F: «Well they are long races but the singular stints are very similar to a F1 Grand Prix so for the moment I have no special plans, I will continue to train as I always did. »

LMS to GC.F: «You will have to share the steering wheel with your teammates, is it something you apprehend?»

GC.F: «I am confident; Ferrari will give me the best teammates possible.»

LMS à GC.F: « With Toni Vilander& Jean Alesi, you will form a remarkable team, are you happy to race with them? »

GC.F: «Of course, I know Jean very well, he is a very good friend and a fantastic driver. Toni is very experienced with the Team and with the car so he will be of great assistance.»

LMS to GC.F: «As several car manufacturers will be in the GT2 category, the battle is going to be very fierce. Do you think your tremendous experience can make the difference?

GC.F: «I hope so and I am looking forward to be very competitive as well. »

And to finish, Giancarlo Fisichella accepted to play the Chinese portrait game. Unusual questions and immediate answers of a racing driver ready to face one of the world's most demanding disciplines!

If I was:

- a color: white

- a circuit: Monaco

- a film: Magnificent seven

- a meal: Meat

- an actor: Tom Cruise

- a singer: Renato Zero

- a book: All books I read to my children

- a work of art: The Colosseum

- a motto: Try harder

- a memory of F1: Australia 2005

- a wish for this 2010 LMS season: Win at first attempt
