Title: Five Screen Racing Simulator
Post by: Canada Darrell™ on December 18, 2011, 07:11:11 PM
I am so looking forward to my new system components which should arrive next week. I've got the same video card coming along with 16GB of system ram (YES! 16GB....for only $78.99!!!!!!!!) and a super speedy i5 2500K processor. My daughter is getting my old system guts (but still great for her needs) for xmas. Now...how can I sneak a few extra monitors into the man-cave without wifey noticing? :)

16GB Video card.  :o    My whole PC only runs on 4GB Ram.  :'(

;) It still runs GPWizard and some other F1 sites just fine though. :P  :D

I read once that for most games and sites anything over 4gb's is a
waste. That's not entirely true is it Darrell?

Point of clarification...the Vid card has 1GB of DDR5 ram. I also have 16GB of system ram coming.  :D

Generally speaking Dare, anything over 4GB for mere mortals is usually good enough.  ::) I do a lot of video and Photoshop work on my PC and more ram is always a good thing with those types of programs. A lot of modern games are finally taking advantage of huge amounts of ram too...but still, 4GB is plenty in most cases.

Unfortunately I ran into the budget wall and could not include an SSD drive in my dream machine but over the next few months I'll stow away a few scheckles and get there soon.

Sorry mate, but, I just can't call an i5 processor 'speedy' compared to my i7 930.... :P

What speed ram are you getting??? 1066Mhz or 1600Mhz??

I'm running 1600Mhz, but, only 12GB.

Dare you need a 64bit operating system for the computer to see more than 4GB and the system to use more than 3GB.....

1600mhz....

The i5 I plan on taking to just a shade over 4Ghz using an aftermarket air cooler. The size of this thing is massive.
