It's the anniversary of something that makes our enjoyment of F1 possible.
Telstar, the 1st successful active communications satellite, was launched on this day in 1962. It completed the 1st live satellite TV broadcasts between Europe & North America. Synchronous orbit capability hadn't been developed, so the broadcasts would only last as long as the satellite was in range. Still, it was a start. And those of us who were around back then were absolutely amazed!
