I'm not watching the Chinese Grand Prix live tomorrow or participating in the post-race chat.
I've got a decent excuse though. I'm swimming in a local swimming gala, so when the red lights go out, I'll be on a minibus. By the time the chequered flag waves, I may well be finishing my first race of the day (depending on how the competition is organized and what events I'm doing). It was a total surprise - only heard just under half an hour ago - and I'm really excited, since it's my first competition all year.

Good luck in your swim meet ali,be sure and
not wear a red swim suit, you know why :D
-
Well yes I do - I'd be mistaken for one of the Reading Cygnets team and be thrown out of the building (it's a regional-level event and they're from a completely different region!)
In case you're wondering, my team has dark blue swimming gear with light blue trim. It looks really smart - I just hope I still fit in my competition costume...
-
Good luck Ali, blue is the best colour ever anyway. Have a great day.

Nice one Ali! :yahoo:
We will all be thinking of you, make sure you let us know how you get on.
Best of luck from the Wizzo household. :good:

Good luck Ali. You won't miss much - Lewis will lead from the pole and then beach it on his way to his last pit stop. >:D

Yup, good luck Ali, slay them. :good:

Good luck, Ali! Show 'em how it's done! :yahoo:

Thank you dare, Neil, the Wiz, ScottyD, Ian, Cos, Steven and Lonny!
I had a great time at the gala. This turned out to be in Grantham (not Gainsborough as I'd initially thought). I did two stints in relays, got two sixth places, won two golds and broke three personal best times. Considering it was my first gala this year, I was very impressed with myself.
And I did fit into my costume after all...
-
Very well done Ali, I would have needed rescuing from the kiddie pool... LOL...
Glad you had a great time

:yahoo: WOW! Excellent performance Ali! :yahoo:
I'm glad you had a great time and your results certainly reflect you efforts and enthusiasm - a big WELL DONE from Mrs Wiz and I.
(I'm sure there was never any doubt about the costume ::))
-
Well done, indeed, Ali! :good: Looks like you've started the season on a high note.
About the costume: The last time I went to the beach, a bunch of save-the-whales people kept trying to drag me back into the ocean! :-[

Three personal bests and two gold's? Congratulations! I'd sink after two lengths.
-
Wow, well done Ali.

Thanks again, everyone :D
rom, the kiddie pool probably wouldn't have been too much of a problem for you, as it had a sloping floor. So you wouldn't even have needed to get your knees wet unless you wanted to. Though the competition pool was slightly deeper than that...
Wiz, evidently I thought I'd gained more weight than I actually had since I last wore it...
ScottyD, two of my races were only two lengths, and one of the relay stints only called for one length. So you might have been OK :)
lkjohnson, there's at least one organising committee that wouldn't have thought an athlete with brains was possible, but that's another story!
