"Father of the PC" Dies
« on: April 02, 2010, 01:17:15 PM »
Dr Henry Edward Roberts has died at the age of 68. Ed Roberts was the creator of the Altair 8800 computer. The 8800 was based on the old 8080 CPU chip. In the mid-1970's, it was sold in kit form through ads in mags like Popular Mechanics. The 8800 inspired Paul Allen & Bill Gates to create their first operating system, Altair Basic.

I'm in on this one, my computer has taken over from the unreliable cars of the last century at the top of my love/hate list.   >:D

Mine has gone to the "how could someone
spend that much time on a pc" to taking
over my life.
