The photos from the test demonstrated pretty plainly that the mudguards had no practical use for reducing spray.

F1 cars already use really good lighting for the rain light. It's not enough.

$28 for a lobster roll portion is still too expensive. Especially if the proprietor is unsure as to whether that's for a complete portion or not.

General F1 Discussion / Re: Trump at the Miami GP

McLaren gave Donald Trump a paddock pass, so the person with definite Trump sympathies is Zak Brown. Have to admit I wasn't especially surprised (although this was new information to me).

Still not sure whether Lando's comments were from actual support of Trump, a somewhat overworked appreciation of Lando's good luck (in which case, it's a joke gone sideways) or simply picking the wrong words when told to show respect for McLaren's guest. I can believe any of those options from Lando.

OH NO! So Liberty may just pay him off.  :D [/quote be

As they say here in Ohio: Jim Jordan can't bought - but he can be rented very reasonably.

Those look like they fell out of the top of an Ugly tree & hit every branch on the way down. Spray is part of racing in the wet. I hate to think what those things would do to the carefully designed aero on the cars.

Can they at least change the name from WWP to WTF?

I've seen the doc.  It's all before my time, so I only knew the broad strokes.

Understanding what it meant to their families add such a huge dimension.  And seeing how their families dealt with it?  A very good insight into how good people deal with tragedy.

The article mentions most of the spray is caused by the ground effects, so even with zero spray from the tires, it doesn't really solve anything.

Perhaps there are other solutions?  Aircraft are landed in low visibility circumstances using lighting.  Modern LED lighting can make the rear of an F1 car ultravisible with very little weight.  Similarly the curbs of a track can be lit with durable low profile LED

So much for the 1.8 second pit stops

We're getting closer and closer to Sportscar spec with this enclosed wheel stuff IMHO.

Seems some social media posts about astronomical food prices at Miami GP may have been, well to put it bluntly, over exaggerated.
Like the Lobster roll at $280 - it was for more than one person, probably 10 people!  :o
Still seems steep to a mere country lad like me.  :D

Nice to see plenty of fake news is always around when Donald is close by.  :DD
