Post by: cosworth151 on October 27, 2018, 03:01:56 PM
Haas has picked up Rich Energy Drinks as title sponsor starting with the 2019 season. The team will be known as Rich Energy Haas F1 Team.

I hope they are better at giving Haas money than Force India...

The weird thing is they had allegedly (according to Sky/BBC) agreed to sponsor Williams, but Haas offered them the same title sponsorship package but for half the price.  Why would Haas do that?  Has Gene lost some of his interest in the sport now it is clear you can only get to be 'best of the rest' as a customer?

Kind of like an unfinished sentence.  "Rich Energy Haas a really horrible taste?"

Maybe we can make it into a contest for the best ending?  ;) ;)

Around here, Rich is a regional chain of cheapo gas stations that usually sell far more cigarettes than gas. That's what I thought of when I heard Rich Energy.

I hope it doesn't turn out like the SS United sponsorship of Super Aguri did.

Because upstaging a more prestigious competitor has its own value, even if it's only in the field of sponsorship.

It might also be that Rich is looking to get into the American market and Gene knows that half a loaf is better than none.

They are not a team that I pay particular close attention to, in all honesty ... but, could the new partnership have HAAS look a bit like the old lotus paint job??

As far as paint jobs go, I thought their 2018 looked pretty decent.

Cal :)

Seems to me that new black livery is desined to wind up Renault.  :D

After all the two teams have been fierce competitors both on and off the track this year.

You could be right John!!

But ... as we know, typically, proposed designs we see now, rarely look comparable to how the paint jobs on the cars, come Melbourne!!

Cal :)

It's not a good sign that I had to actively search to see the Rich Energy logo on the car. Certainly doesn't jump out at the viewer.  Maybe it's on the rear spoiler or something too.

Exactly, took me a few moments to locate it too!! ... I would expect it to be larger in size on the final design, likely showing up on the nose and rear wing area also (depending whether Rich Energy is text/logo based or purely a text trademark??).

Best Regards,
Cal :)

I just assumed it was from one of the internet's many designers who had just whipped up a design in half an hour.  I'm glad Williams dodged that bullet to be honest!  I do not want to see Williams looking like a John Player Special Lotus.

Yeah just in case it makes them a front running team, as it did for the original Black/Gold JPS or later in 2012/13 as Genii Lotus Renault with Kimi.  :tease:

At least you know you can count on Grosjean and Magnussen to wreck the car a couple of times for no apparent reason, even if it is a frontrunner

I'd love to see Williams back on top but I think
even a genie couldn't help them there
