This is the 6th time that Hamilton has gone into the last race of the season with the possibility of winning the championship.
2007 (lost), 2008 (WDC), 2010(lost), 2014 (WDC), 2016(lost) and now 2021(???)
Has anyone ever had that many opportunities to win in the last race? (Win or lose?)

I don't think so I also don't think any driver has won at least one race every year of their time in F1.

Not many drivers start their career in a top car. Nor does one team usually dominate F1 for such a long time as Merc has. That said, Lewis is one of the best I've seen in over 50 years watching. He can coax more out of the car, find pace where others can't. To me a sure sign of greatness is his ability to set fastest laps while taking less out of his tires. And he rarely crashes. Top 10 all time at least.

I kind of lean toward the old timers ahead of newbies like Lewis. Clark, Fangio, Nuvolari. Doesn't leave a lot of room at the top. :D

Just watching Brundle on the grid walk, it is so crowded he is having trouble getting through, ludicrous.
