There would be a certain irony if Masi's fate is being decided by a loosey goosey arbitrary approach instead of sticking to the letter of the law/rules.

I'm thinking Bayer not having that much to do with the tremendous media circus that surrounds F1 has been suckered into making very unwise comments. No doubt he supposed that he was having a friendly off the record chat with someone he may have known for years, in journalism there is never really 'off the record', some journos would land their own mother in hot water to get a by line on a big controversy.

This does however give the new President of FIA a bit of a dilema, does he simply take the opposite view to Bayer, if he recommends sacking Masi, or does he move to sack Bayer for his naivety and blatant disregard for due process?

Personally I feel sacking masi solves nothing, he clearly had much too big a job & wide ranging role. Hell from 96 to 2016 Charlie had Herbi Blash to run inteference as cut out between himself and teams. I guess Masi must have acted in that role after Herbi left til Charlie's death.  :DntKnw:
Now why on earth did Todt an expert administrator allow the deputy's role responsibilities for shielding the boss disappear when Masi assumed Charlie's mantle?   :DntKnw: ......So most of this is on you Jean.  :P

The job is/was clearly too big for one man - even our own brilliant Charlie - so Masi either needs support and less areas of responsibility if staying in post, or become part of a bigger team under a new Leading Steward post, operating with more clearly defined rules for each role to meet most conceivable situations. Surely it doesn't matter if the race operation rule book has to be twice its current size, - it's not like constuctors regs that everyone fights to find loopholes in.  :D
