Speed is GONE!!

Just flipped over to Speed to see what was on and discovered UF1 fighting championship.  :swoon: It's now called Fox Sports 1 and racing is only a small part of their schedule. And the website is now Speed Motors on Fox. This sucks totally. I am sooo bummed.   >:D

Not sure how many motorsports fans they are really interested in.  I watched a video of the turnover, and the first thing was a retired football player waxing on about how wonderful their new channel is, with absolutely no mention of motorsports.  Then I saw The Daily Show who had Regis Philben on (wasn't he just fired from a fluff show?  Has he EVER done anything remotely to do with sport??).

Sad day indeed...

Sounds to us Brits like you have been Beeb'd by your TV providers.  :(  We know all about losing motorsports coverage, don't we Ian, so you have every sympathy from us.

Must say when I first read your post Lonny I wondered what the heck you're doing taking substances,  :o -  the only speed that gets much coverage over here is the unlawful kind.  :D  :DD

Since changing from Speedvision the Speed
channel has gotten worse every year.Used to
WRC,MotoGP,and my all time favorite Women's
Bobsledding,the start were awe inspiring

I kinda left my post in the middle.  What I meant to say was what the heck is Regis doing on Fox Sports when until now all he has done is fluff shows?  If anything tells you what the quality is going to be like, it is him.   :fool: :fool: :fool:

That's been in the works for about a year. What was Speed is now Fox Sports 1. At the same time, they bought Fuel, another motor sport cable channel and made it Fox Sports 2. They want to be competition for ESPN.

I agree with Dare about Speed. Since Fox took it over a several years ago and re-badged it Speed, it has been sliding downhill. MotoGP, WRC, Legends of Motorsport, air racing and many others were replaced with NASCAR chat and "reality" shows.

Regis was so bad he was booted from his
own morning show.Never been a big Regis
fan starting way when he co-hosted the Joey Bishop
late show in the 60's

All very true, but some racing is better than no racing. And no Dave Despain. :'(

AutoWeek's Steven Cole Smith sums it up well. He even talks about one of the really great shows from the Speedvision days, Thursday Night Thunder.

Is it any surprise that a FOX owned channel is going to be horrible. FOX news is all manufactured crap and they constantly pander to the lowest common denominator of viewership.

This is America after all and if it aint NASCAR, it aint worth watchin'.

No wonder F1 has an uphill battle getting viewers when the networks just look at what worked in the past and brought in bucks and rehash that crap for the next season.
Hell forbid there was an original thought.

Fox took over Sports Time Ohio this year. It was formerly owned by the Cleveland Indians. It's going down hill fast, too.

I can't wait to see if Honey Boo Boo gets a show on Fox Sports, too.
