Smedley to follow Massa to Williams
« on: November 13, 2013, 08:26:39 AM »
I wonder if Kimi is taking his Race Engineer (Ciaron Pilbeam) to Ferrari?  I would think he's perhaps fed up with a guy who swears at him during a race (or who exactly was yelling at him on the radio?).

Too bad for Smedley, I guess there is no place for him at Ferrari now that Massa is going.

Smedley & Massa work well together. I think it will be a positive for Williams to have them together. I'd love to see the team move back up the grid.

I don't think bringing Massa to Williams is
the jigsaw piece William's needed.Massa
didn't impress me in the much better Ferrari.
Maybe  Smedley was part of the problem
and not the fix

Alan Permane was the one swearing at Kimi because he didn't appear to be listening to Ciaron. From Kimi's perspective, an engineer he can ignore is probably a good thing, so maybe Ciaron's moving.

Then again, Felipe's original race engineer was Gabriele delli Colli, back when Rob Smedley was the test car engineer. So maybe Ferrari has a tick up their sleeve, with someone who hasn't come to prominence yet and is OK with the Kimi style of radio communication (i.e. nearly none).
