Dozens of bidders bought up a range of F1 related car number plates at auction yesterday. The highly-desirable plates - including F1 FAN and F1 NUT - attracted attention from motorsport fans across the globe. Together they sold for more than £70,000 at an auction held by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) at the Williams F1 Conference Centre in Grove.
The star lot was F1 PRO which sold to Birmingham-based businessman Stuart Ross for £10,200. Mr Ross will put the plate on his Ferrari F40. F1 MAD went to Michael Andrew Drury - the owner of a business supplying specialist equipment to motorsport teams for £6,000 and Raj Dhuna of Hayes in Middlesex bought four plates - F1 NUT, F1 FAN, F1 ACE and F1 GPX. He will put the plates on Ferraris owned by his performance vehicle hire business.
Damian Lawson, Marketing Manager for DVLA Personalised Registrations said, 'The F1 plates stole the show, but we have lots of interesting plates to come over the next two days including OO07 SPY and MY55 AMG'
