Honestly, the only halfway interesting one is Williams.

Alfa Romeo looks good, but a classic sort of design.

I assume Haas is due to change.

Any bets on announcers misidentifying the Alpine as a Force India at least once?

I notice two changes right away on every car.
The wheels seem to have gone back to those ugly covers inside the rims and I assume this is once again a bid for less air resistance.
The front wheels all have a little flap coming up the inside to just over the top edge of the wheel. Is this just another space they can sell advertising on?

The wheel covers and little flap are supposed to reduce turbulence coming off the front tires so that the following car can run closer. A few drivers have said it's easier to follow closely now. A couple also said they think DRS will be more effective. They need to deal with the porpoising and any solution may change those gains.

I assume that the nearterm solution for 'porpoising' will be in the hands of the drivers, not the engineers.  I kind of like that the cars now can punish drivers for pushing too hard.  We always talk about the best drivers being 'on the edge', so it's nice to see an edge that isn't just between winning the race and catastrophic failure, but actual racing skill.

With driver skill being the solution, I would put my money on Hamilton and Alonso.  They've got plenty of experience driving less than ideal cars and getting good results.  (Yes, I'm aware it's been a while for Hamilton, but I think he's still got that skill).  Max doesn't seem like he has that ability, but I don't know that he's really had a car he had to 'push' like Alonso and Hamilton have.

As for non WDC winners who can deal with porpoising, I think that Gasly and Albon have shown more flexibility than others.

Of course, putting up with it is also a skill in a way...

Punish a driver for using the cars maximum velocity whenever possible ??? 
Backing off on straightaways is a "skill"???

I don't want slowing to be part of auto racing, that's for sure..... 

A better suggestion yet.......Put up speed limit signs, employ traffic enforcing officers to pull over drivers  for exceeding said limits. 
How exciting. Real skill, eh?

You think the best race car drivers just plant their right foot on the 'go pedal'?
 

There have been complaints for decades now that an F1 car can be 'driven by a monkey'.  What's wrong with having cars that are difficult to drive?  (Not that I would have chosen this somewhat absurd issue, but since it's already part of the sport, we have to go with it)

Avoiding porpoising would not slow the cars down; it would speed them up.  You think a car bouncing all over the track is going to put in better lap times than one that is rock solid on the ground? 

Eventually the engineers will fix porpoising, and we'll go back to the status quo of best car winning, but it'll be nice to have a few races where the driver skill matters more than usual.

I read the jimclark statement and was surprised to see someone making comments such as that on this forum about another member and was going to respond but then thought that you are more than well equipped to reply to those comments. I have been on here since 2007 and in all that time everyone has been kind to each other even if we don't all agree on an issue.
