Russian GP Gone for Good

The FIA dropped the other shoe. They have terminated their contract with the promoters of the Russian Grand Prix. There will be no future F1 races there.

So we finally have a line the FIA will draw?

I do hope it's not a 'forever' situation though.  I hope that Russia can join modern civilization, and become an ideal member of the international community, and the average Russian has disposable income to enjoy large scale sporting events.

Until that day comes, I'd love for the FIA to come up with a way to stage a Ukranian grand prix.  (No, I have no idea how)

Maybe they should look into an Iraqi & Afghan Grand Prix too.  (Again I have no idea how).

Forever is a relative term. It can mean until the regime changes or a certain length of time. It's kind of like a "Lifetime Membership". Who's lifetime, mine, the owner of the business, the board of directors?

As it stands with Putin at the helm, there will be no FIA sporting events held in Russia. Which makes me happy. I did not agree with a Russian GP at any point. Putin has not changed one bit since he took power, he is just acting on his plans now.
