Prodrive £200M F1 Facility

(1/1)

Wizzo:
Prodrive took another step towards entering Formula 1 on Wednesday when it announced plans to build a brand new state-of-the-art facility at its 200-acre road car technology site in Warwickshire.

The company, owned by former BAR and Benetton team principal David Richards, has registered plans to redevelop the former second-world war airfield at Honiley, near Kenilworth, with Warwick District Council.Prodrive intends for the Fulcrum to be a world-class research and development facility capable with room for more than a 1000 personnel.

The ultra-successful motorsport preparation company also suggested in a statement that the area "could become the location for a new British F1 team".

Richards has made no secret of his desire to return to F1 since being ousted from the BAR set-up by Honda in the winter of 2004.But a Prodrive spokesman stopped short of calling this a confirmation of intentions to join F1 in 2008, adding that "it seemed sensible for us to put in these plans should we choose to enter in the future."
