BMW F1 at CES 2008
« on: January 08, 2008, 01:44:17 PM »
Most people when they head to CES 2008 they will be walking around inside to see the latest consumer electronic at this show, however if you are a motorsport fan then you would have been treated to an amazing show outside.

Graham Rahal was the driver in charge of a 2007 BMW Formula One racing car, where he was showing of some of his skills in the car park by doing some donuts. The little makeshift track had a small straight with two circles at each end, so it must have been very hard for Rahal to keep the BMW away from the barriers.

Great video, Wizzo! :good: It's a shame Graham didn't have enough room to show what he's got.

I've seen him in Formula BMW races over here. I think he's got a future in racing.

Graham is the son of former F1 driver and Indy champ Bobby Rahal. Bobby drove for Walter Wolf in the US and Canadain GPs in 1978. In 2000, he was appointed by the Ford Motor Company to be chief executive of Jaguar Racing, a role he took over in 2001. In the mid-season however he was ousted by the new management of Jaguar Cars and replaced by Niki Lauda.

He currently runs Rahal Letterman Racing, which is based right up the road from me in Dublin, Ohio. His partner is late night TV talker David Letterman. They race in IndyCar and the American LeMans Series.

Those are the worst donuts I have ever seen.  I have seen 80 year old grannies do better.
Shame BMW didn't give Graham half an hour with Russ Swift.

With that much power in that small a space, I'm sure it was hard enough to do anything without pranging the car.

By the way, last night BBC America had two hours of Top Gear on at the same time that the Ohio State Buckeyes were in the national championship game. I prob. had the ONLY tv in the whole state that wasn't tuned to the game! :D
