New McLaren MP4-24 Turns 18 Private Laps
« on: January 18, 2009, 08:20:52 PM »
McLaren's 2009 single seater, the MP4-24, made its track debut on Saturday in the hands of the Spanish test driver Pedro de la Rosa.

At a private booking for the team at the new Algarve circuit, located on the southern coast of Portugal, the car was taken through 18 laps in ideal weather following a delayed start.

Alongside other teams on Monday, de la Rosa will continue the programme before handing over to Lewis Hamilton on Wednesday and Heikki Kovalainen on Thursday.

"Obviously, we have yet to really push the MP4-24 to its limits and we will start running more laps on Monday but this was a constructive start and has given us some confidence," de la Rosa said.

i think this testing week is going to be interesting, every car launched so far looks different from the ones before it
