make your choice I'm still undecided
-
I've made my choice but I have some inside information, still there are some dark horses out there. :DntKnw:
Good Luck all and may the best man/woman/pirate win. :D
-
Speaking of which, is piracy allowed during the race?
-
I am amazed someone has voted for me. I should point out it is 12 years since I last sat in a kart or drove on any kind of track.

Well I just hope you have been studying Jim Clark and JYS's advice on taking corners and using the natural apexes. But then again you may just be sandbagging to increase your betting odds and catch the others off guard. ;)
My money is on the Pirate team or the International Jet setting playboy, sorry Steven & Ali. Good luck one and all. :yahoo: :yahoo:
-
My money is on Neil.pirate :D
-
I'm with you there Sluggs, can't find a bookie to take the bet though.

In theory, no. In practise, ask the circuit manager (Andrew Parsons). I suspect the answer will still be no, especially since there wouldn't be any loot on the track or any point in commandeering another kart. But that's life.

I last drove a kart (or on a track) ten years ago. In that race I came third...
...out of three.
-
I've acquired a rather nice beer belly since I last went karting, I think it may upset the weight distribution, I'm not confident at all. :D

There is one person racing who raced a kart against Mark Webber. He was last of all the people racing.

I've always liked the underdog[Jordon,Force India.Embassy]
so I'm going with Ali.Maybe it will rain and we'll pull a 03 Brazil

Do you mean a Cosworth win? :D

Do you mean a Cosworth win?
You still have time to get a flight over.
-
I dont know you guys well enough to judge who will win but im gonna put my money on Neil! Good luck to all of you guys have a good day
-
To the best of my knowledge none of us have seen any of the rest of us drive so I am not sure what the voting is based on.
-
Hey, you've got 4 votes Steven...not sure what you're complaining about! >:D
-
I've seen Neil drive and i've seen his friend ;)
-
Who's this guy here
-
Lol where did you get photos already?
That's Neil.p

The one conclusion I can take from this pole is that the population of GP Wizard are hopeless at predicting winners. The two favourites failed to win the event. The GP Wizard contigent did well though. Scotty won the event followed by Neil and I cam third even though I am certain that I was fourth and despite speaking up for the anonymous half of sidepodcast who should have been third the organisers insisted that i had lapped him at some point.
I am sure everyone who was there enjoyed the event although it was a bit chilly to say the least.
-
I really enjoyed the karting yesterday, think I've only just thawed out though. Good to meet everyone and thanks to Ali for organising. :good:

Slugger have you any pictures from the meeting at the resrraunt,
would luv to see them
-
Actually I don't think anyone took pics at the restaurant, but Slugger took plenty at the race.
It was great to meet everyone in person. A special thanks to Ali for organizing it and giving me great tips for the AIS show as well. Neil gave me a real run for my money, but I managed to squeak ahead in the points giving me pole for the final when I never looked back.
Early in the heats Steven pulled a Schumi squeeze on me once, but I managed to get by him. That guy Mr C from Sidepodcast had a back end that was 40ft wide - even when he blew a corner, he'd just swerve back in.
I had a blast, now I just have to figure out how to get my trophy past airport security tomorrow.
Hope you guys liked the chocolate!
:good: :good: :good:

Hi Dare
I didn't take any at the restaurant i'm afraid. Should have thought of that.

I know I am now...

I came last. A broken kart is only part of the explanation.

Even I thought it was cold, and I'm used to living in a cold house...

You're very welcome. It won't be the last ;)

Sidepodcast's audio commentary of the event plus interviews. Videoing unfortunately wasn't an option.
Scott,
I slightly modified your last post. Like our on GP Wiz the male half of sidepodcast likes to hide his real name. He is known either as MrC or "me" which causes all sorts of confusion.
-
So that's why they don't want me to post the photo of the timing screen then. They said I could get into trouble.

At the end of last night he was convinced he could not maintain his anonimity much longer. I have no idea why he wants to be anonymous but if that's what he wants so be it. I have e-mailed the link for your photos to Christine rather than post it on the site.
-
Cheers Steven.
Someone posted a link to one of the photos with Mr C in it over on sidepodcast.
-
I have spent the last two hours trying to get my computer to play sound so I am way behind on this. I have read through some of the comments there on this subject. Some of the comments seemed quite harsh but that is just the way it reads. The attitude on that site is the same as here. Everyone gets on well and there is never any aggro. I think Scott Woodwiss's comment about you getting in trouble if you post the timing screen is him feeling guilty for pointing out the pic of Mr C.
-
This looked (and sounded) like a good event, we should defiantly arrange something similar for next year as we are now officially the defending champions.
Well done to all to attended and especially Scotty,Neil and Steven for their respective positions - way to go boys! :good:
We all owe Ali a BIG thank you for coming up with the idea and for organising the event, if you're willing ALi then please feel free to contact me at anytime about next year. Thanks to Slugger for his superb pics.
Oh by the way, I have seen a few people mention about me trying to remain anonymous?? This isn't the case at all, my name used to be deleted by an over zealous moderator who seemed to want to shroud me in a cloak of secrecy, a bit like a super hero ::).

Just don't let them see you in a suit without the glasses 8)
-
It wasn't me deleting ^%^&*^%'s name,in fact to
prove he doesn't care about remaining anonymous he
gave me this picture of himself to post
-
No Dare, the moderator I'm talking about is from the very early days and is no longer a mod.
Thanks for the pic, its nice to see one of me looking happy! :P
-
Wiz,
I can remeber your name appearing a few months ago then being changed to Wiz. My understanding was that you wished to be anonymous. Maybe it was just changed to make it clear who he was talking about.
-
I think I may have changed it once.I received
a pm from someone who said the Wiz didn't
want his real name posted :-[
-
You're both correct Steven & Dare, my name was changed a few months ago and this was due to a member panicking and sending out PM's. ::)
-
Strange, I don't remember that. :DntKnw:

At least my memory is still working. Everything else hurts after karting on a bumpier track than Singapore. I thought this morning I had cornered the world market in lactic acid.

You can take it as read that there will be one next year - the track may have been narrow and bumpy, but it does have three things going for it:
a) the karts are fast and quiet
b) the organisers are great
c) it's the only kart track in Birmingham, which means it's the only choice for combining with Autosport International.
There may be other karting events at other times, but the next event to plan is a meet-up for Silverstone. I was thinking in terms of a few drinks and maybe a barbeque if we can find somewhere that allows it.
-
I think we owe Ali a big thanks as for Mr big I'm
sure he'd rather remain anonymous
