Title: Clarkson homophobic?
Post by: Wizzo on December 20, 2006, 10:30:21 AM

Jeremy Clarkson has hit out at those who have criticised him for labelling a car gay.  ::)

The journalist was reprimanded after the BBC received complaints that he had said something homophobic during a car review.

The 46-year-old asked a member of a TV audience if he would like to own a two-seater Daihatsu Copen.

"No, it's a bit gay," was the reply Clarkson got, to which he said: "A bit gay, yes - very ginger beer."

Initially the BBC defended Clarkson over the comment which he made last summer, but after a string of complaints, the decision has been reversed.

The corporation's head of complaints, Fraser Steel, said the complaints would be upheld as the comments were homophobic.

"Clarkson supplemented the term 'gay' with a phrase which is rhyming slang for 'queer'," said Steel.

"There was no doubt it was used in the sense of 'homosexual' and was capable of giving offence."

Clarkson seems undaunted by the words of Mr Steel however, and quickly got back to the thin ice he likes skating on.

"No one's rung me to tell me off. And it wasn't a gay car - it was actually a bit lesbian," he told the Sun.  :D

Why can't he say a car looks a bit gay? You can have a girly car and a chick flick.

Answer me this in ten words or less, you wouldn't drive around in a pink convertible Nissan Micra because..........
