One of the most popular cars ever to make it onto the UK's roads may have rolled off the production line for the very last time.
Famed for its reliability and durability and very often the first car a driver ever owns, the Ford Fiesta is facing the chop.
Bosses are seriously considering never making another Fiesta again, potentially denying future students and inexperienced drivers the chance to own one.
Ford says that it will continue to make cars like the Fiesta but they want to rename them with Genesis, Isis and Phoenix just some of the monikers being considered.
However, the idea of saying farewell to the Fiesta is causing a split within the carmaker, as some people are less happy about the name change than others.
"Some badges have strong brand values so perhaps we should not throw this away," said Richard Parry-Jones, product development manager.
But some bosses just do not agree with Parry-Jones' views and think that the Fiesta has had its day.
"'There is a strong tide in favour of something new," revealed a Ford insider. "Our younger target audience were not all born in 1976 when the Fiesta arrived, so heritage isn't an issue."
