My Father-in-law suffers from Alzheimers which we all know is a terrible disease that is becoming increasingly common. To help raise money for the Alzheimers Society my Brother-in-law (Gary) is running the London Marathon this year and he is trying to raise as much money as possible.
I do not expect members to donate because this is my site, Alzheimers touches so many people these days and if you have ever been affected by it then I'm sure you will understand why I have posted this here. I'm simply trying to help by spreading the word.

It's a horrible disease. My Dad died in late 2008 from it. We were very lucky that he had the 'happy' kind (as opposed to the angry kind, which one of his neighbours had). He thought the hospital and his nursing home were hotels, with excellent service. :D

Great cause Wizzo, no problem sparing a few quid.
I used to do Marathons all the time, then they changed them to Snickers. :DD

Thanks very much Dave, your donation is truly appreciated by both me and the family. :good: :good:

Well Wiz, how did Gary get on??

He didn't bother doing it! :DD
Only kidding guys, Gary managed the full marathon in 4hrs 30min which he was most disappointed with. :fool:
I must admit I watched a lot of the marathon this year and found it quite inspiring. Who fancies running next year dressed as a wizard? :DntKnw:
Thanks for everyones support. :good:

I notice that you got 'inspiring' mixed up with 'tiring' again. :DD
I would love to run a marathon but it take a good few years training.

4 hours 30 minutes seems like a good time to me

The London marathon was at eurosport but I missed it :( My dad has memory disease too, it is almost like alzheimer but in another name. he has suffered it long time and he still recognizes me but later will come the day when he doesn't recognize me anymore or other family members. Hopefully medical science invents something against this awful disease. It is said that it is also disease for the closest relations because they must take care about the memory patient whole day, also by night and it takes lots of power.
