Title: Unread posts and my twitchy mouse finger!
Post by: Canada Darrell™ on January 31, 2011, 06:23:41 PM
Hiya Wizzo,

Every once in a while when I log on and before I choose "show unread posts" I'll sometimes navigate away from the site. Then when I come back of course there are no new posts since my last visit...of mere seconds ago.
I don't think there is a way but...is there a way to show all posts within a specific time frame?

cheers

Don't worry Darrell, we all suffer the morning after shakes once in a while.  :DD

This is a difficult one. I tried using the advanced search facility where you can narrow your search by each day but it won't let you use wild cards so this is no good.

The easiest way is to use the GPWizard Twitter (http://twitter.com/gpwizard) or Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/GPWizard-F1-Forum/146302662086668#!/pages/GPWizard-F1-Forum/146302662086668?v=wall) accounts to scroll back through all the posts you've missed.

What I do is go to the Forum home page. At the bottom, under Forun Statistics, there is a tab for View most recent forum postings. Click there, and they will be listed in reverse order, with the most recent post first

You can also try clicking on the words in red "Click here to try all unread topics." which appear on the line after "No unread topics since your last visit." on the unread topics page. That should bring up all unread posts including those you were trying to access a few mins earlier. The only thing is you have to keep clicking on that line after you have entered and finished with each topic to reach any others hidden from you, it's a pain but hopefully there wont be that many unread topics if you log in regularly

Should work unless you inadvertantly clicked the "mark all messages read" panel before you navigated away, in which case take the very good advice from Cos.
