The world's most famous secret agent turns 50 today.
The first James Bond movie, Dr. No, premiered on 5 October 1962. It stared Sean Connery, who at the time was best known for his role in a Disney musical. It also featured the first time for Bernard Lee as M and Lois Maxwell as Jane Moneypenny (No, her first name isn't Miss). Desmond Llewelyn's Q didn't arrive until the 2nd film, From Russia With Love. His first device was the briefcase. Q, by the way, is short for Quartermaster.
Since then, Bond has saved the world numerous times, done more for Aston Martin than David Brown and regenerated almost as many times as Dr. Who.
The next movie, Skyfall, will premier next month, on November 9th.
Happy Birthday, James.
