Title: 5 'Must See' Films still to come in 2013
Post by: Wizzo on August 16, 2013, 11:42:48 AM

1. Rush
What else would I start with? You don't need to know anything about F1 in order to enjoy this film. This is a movie about the different ways people handle fame, the closeness that comes with sporting rivalry and some truly extraordinary race sequences. Don't be surprised if you start watching F1 afterwards though!

2. Gravity
While working on a space shuttle, a group of astronauts are hit by space debris and one of their number (Sandra Bullock) is sent floating adrift in space while the others (including George Clooney) try to find a way to stop her bobbling off to her death. I'd go a long way to catch Sandra Bullock, looks like a good film.

3. Captain Phillips
This is the true story of a US cargo ship that was hijacked by Somali pirates in 2009, the first to be hijacked in 200 years. Any film with Tom Hanks in it is a winner in my book.

4. All Is Lost
Robert Redford is a man lost at sea in a damaged boat. And that’s it. It’s just Redford alone for the entire movie, terrified. It was a huge hit at Cannes and likely to be a serial awards winner. Don't pull that face! Remember Tom Hanks in Castaway - great movie.

5. Filth
Warning: approach with caution. If you have a weak stomach, weak heart or weak sense of fun, this will not be for you. Weak sense of morality? Come on down! Sounds a bit like GPWizard! James McAvoy as a detestable Scottish policeman investigating a murder and trying to undermine and destroy everyone in his life. It turns hilarious, nasty, surreal, terrifying and by all accounts is very creative.

They all look good. Of Course, I think we're all waiting for Rush. And, as you say, I'd watch about anything with Sandra Bullock.

Two others of note. I've already posted a report on the racing film Snake & Mongoose:

Another I', looking forward to is The Worlds End. I really like Simon Pegg movies.

I really want to see The Conjuring as I've heard good things about it. I love a good horror as long as its not a gore fest.

I would see them all except the Sandra Bullock movie.  Can't stand her, but if I'm forced to sit through it because my wife likes her, then I guess I'll probably see that one too.

Sorry, but I've seen better acting skills in a primary school play.
