Finally, F1 has found a way to bring racing tech to everyday life! Williams has applied F1 aero tech to your local super market milk cooler.
Williams is working with the Sainsbury's grocery folks to use F1 airfoil tech to help keep the cold air inside of their coolers. Williams has used fluid dynamics to design little fins that go on the end of the shelves. They reduce power usage by 10% to 32%, depending on the size of the fridge.
This breakthrough will be far more useful to F1 fans on this side of the pond, since we drink our beer cold.

This isn't the first time that Williams has branched out into non race/road car technology either. When developing their original KERS system they used a flywheel instead of batteries, and while it was never suitable for F1, their technology is used in public transportation and heavy construction machinery (and some race cars).
If they keep letting their engineers pursue their research even if it isn't race relevant, they're going to attract the best minds in F1.

Now if they can just turn their attention to the trolleys....faster and better cornering would help me get around these infernal places a bit quicker!
