We may think that the halo is ugly, or that penalties for not slowing enough during red flags are silly, but it's a dangerous sport at the best of times.
IndyCar drivers pay for insurance out of their own pockets, and many of them are pay drivers for struggling teams, which is to say they don't pay for insurance at all. Wickens' friend and fellow Canadian, James Hinchcliffe, is trying to get IndyCar to require that all drivers are insured.

Best wishes to Robert - he has a very long road ahead of him, but he is clearly very determined to get himself as much mobility as possible.

Really tragic. In IndyCar, I think they should look at the fencing. If they can't keep the cars on the ground, then they have to come up with something that doesn't shred the cars. Maybe some kind of new glass, or simply cement, but then dig the ovals down about 5 stories so the crowds can still watch.
