Jean Todt reached the end of his 4 terms and could not be re-elected. So, we have the first non European ever elected, Mohammed ben Sulayem, former rally driver and Mid East Rally Champion at the top. I have no idea how or even if this will affect F1.

He seems far more concerned about Lewis not going to the awards dinner than about the WDC being a rigged farce. Looks like any hope that this might help straighten out the FIA is headed down the drain. In the words of The Who, here's to the new boss, same as the old boss.

The FIA runs Formula One, but Formula One is not the FIA's main concern, nor should it be.
All the same, Formula One is the FIA's golden goose, they can't afford to take it for granted. Alas, the orange shirts at every single race show that Max is the golden goose's golden boy. From a bottom line point of view, the farcical finish might be good for the FIA.
Still, a former racer might be interested in ensuring FAIR racing as a priority. Of course, getting to the top of the FIA is a political move, and politicians are more interested in attaining power than ensuring fairness. (In general, I know many politicians are not)

Jeri, it has been my experience that the only politicians who are not interested in attaining power are the newly elected ones who still have a semblance of do-gooder about them. Once they get in a see what a gravy train it really is, they only care about getting re-elected to stay on the train.
Fairness has no place as soon as a corporate bottom line is introduced. The second Bernie started running F1 he was only interested in increasing his bottom line and now that Liberty owns it, they are beholden to their shareholders so the Orange horde must be pandered too.
Hmmm orange...where have we seen that colour attached to fanatical hordes before?

Fairness seems to go overboard as soon as politics rears its ugly head, even in posts. :(
Just checking Willy if Green, at the other end of the flag, can also be considered a colour attached to fanatical hordes as well....... For fairness sake of course.

I'm more concerned that Mohammed's first move was to criticise something that was not only required due to legal actions happening at the time (and still happening - the FIA is supposed to be running an inquiry), but something the FIA started through its own conduct. It comes across as excessively power-drunk and possibly racist (he didn't criticise white event-skipper Nyck de Vries, nor entrant Mercedes).
Every colour can be attached to fanatical hordes. This one, however, prefers navy blue rather than orange or green.
