Title: Race of Champions
Post by: Wizzo on November 08, 2007, 11:06:27 AM

For the first time in its racing history The Race of Champions will be held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 16th December 2007 in front of an audience of over 75,000 spectators.

Created in 1988, The Race of Champions is a rare opportunity for the best circuit and off-road drivers in the world to race head-to-head - in identical cars on a parallel track. The premise is simple: when all the usual motor racing factors are removed and talent alone comes to the fore, this makes for a fascinating and exciting spectacle.

Since the first Race of Champions nineteen years ago in Paris, the event has grown into an annual gathering of genuine current and former greats. Last year’s event attracted a sell-out crowd to the Stade de France (70,000).

Colin McRae's place at the ROC will be taken by his brother Alister.  Unlike Ralf Schumacher Alister's surname seemed to work against him in his career.  He is a driver who deserved to be driving in the WRC but due to the lack of drives available he never got the chance he deserved.
