Title: Todt:No truth to coulthard link
Post by: davewilson on June 12, 2006, 03:30:36 PM
Jean Todt has dismissed suggestions that Ferrari are looking at the possibility of taking David Coulthard on board for 2007.

The Scot fuelled gossip last week by refusing to deny the link before insisting that he would do a better job for the team than Felipe Massa at any rate, but Todt was unflinching with his comments when he spoke to reporters after the British GP.

"I can only comment that we never had any contact with Jenson Button, never, and we never had any contact with David Coulthard, never," he said.

"Maybe it's not accurate. I spoke with him last year, at the end of the season, and I think he came and tested a road car. He asked me if he could test a road car in Fiorano. That was the last contact I had with him. That was for the Race of Champions."

The Scuderia team boss also admitted that Michael Schumacher has a "difficult" task ahead if he was to rack up an eighth Drivers' title.

"(Alonso) has scored 74 points out of 80, so it's remarkable.

"He's quick, competitive and reliable, so it makes things more difficult for the others. Michael has 51 so it all depends on how the next ten races go."
