Title: Car Crime - don't make it easy
Post by: Wizzo on October 17, 2006, 08:45:39 AM

A survey by an insurance company has found that motorists in the UK leave around £3.3 billion worth of possessions on display in their cars.

This means that 25 million people make life easy for thieves by leaving their valuables on display when their vehicle is unattended.

The most common items to be left in the car are CDs, coats, shoes, stereos and tool kits, with the average person leaving a total of £134 worth of goods on display.

As well as possibly losing items which are valuable, drivers are also warned that they should not leave important documents lying around as this can lead to even more trouble.

According to the Post Office Car Insurance survey, some of the more bizarre items that have been stolen from cars include bowling balls, air fresheners, window scrapers and even babies' nappies.

A guy I used to work with had his car broken into for a sandwich! More common than you might think, especially if you park in a big city where there might be tramps around.

Keep EVERYTHING out of sight.
