Olympics!
« on: February 13, 2010, 01:39:13 PM »
Is anyone here a fan of the Winter Olympics?

I know the timing of games in Vancouver isn't going to be great for those of you in Europe, but if I can deal with F1 races at insane times, you can watch figure skating when you should be sleeping, lol.

My favourite event is Hockey.  I AM Canadian, after all!

OK Jeri, keep us posted of some of the big events and I'll see if I can check it out. :good:

I'm keen to see the Bobsleigh runs and the Skeleton, but I think most of the big fuss in the Uk will be about the Curling.

I can't say I'm a fan of curling, to much housework involved with all that brushing, :D and it's just bowls on ice after all. It looks good and easy to follow on television though so it will get shown a lot.

I keep an eye on the Hockey but I watch it mainly for the charging, bashing and punch ups. :good:

I've always been a hockey fan. I'm a snowboarder myself, so I watch that.

I have to admit that I became a curling fan during the last Olympics. It was on in the morning, about the time I'd be getting ready to head out of whatever motel I was in. I'll be watching it again this time.

I'm a bit ski fan, but I won't miss the hockey, especially if the Canadians make it to the final (although I think it will be against the USA)...

I was kinda joking Gato - all the ski jumpers are borderline anorexic...the strongest muscles in their bodies are in their ankles for landings.

I agree that those jumpers are slim. it must take hard power to push into fly from the platform.

I had no idea anyone even cared about curling outside of Canada.  It's not really my sport, but all but a guaranteed medal for Canada.  (Our other medal lock is women's hockey.  In game 1 we beat Slovakia 18-0)
