New adverts
« on: April 05, 2010, 07:01:47 PM »
You will notice some new adverts appearing at the top of the boards as you navigate the site. This is something I have always tried to avoid but I'm sure you can appreciate the ever increasing costs of a site such as this and I am simply trying to cover the annual costs etc.

The adverts 'should be' relevant to the board you're viewing but please remember I am at the hands of the almighty Google.

I hope this does not inconvenience you or spoil the enjoyment of the site in anyway. If you have any questions or problems then please feel free to tell me here.

Cheers guys.

No problem Wiz.  Whatever it takes to keep the site growing and at least break-even.  I'll click away.

One note - often when I've clicked on ads on other sites, they open a new browser (as I thought I recalled them doing on the sidebar ads before), but these ones seem to navigate away from the site to the ad's site.  Is this a setting you can change, or something I can change on my computer?

No probs Wiz, it will take more than a few ads to spoil this place.  :good:

Yup, no probs Wiz, I guess this is as good a time to remind newcomers to hit the ads at least once every time they log on.  :good:

Sorry I didn't say that Google looks at your internet browsing history and matches the adverts with your hobbies.  :DD

The great Google in the sky has responded.

'Generally, it is our policy to not allow Google ads to open in a new window. However, in a few markets, including China, we've found that opening ads in a new window better aligns with expected internet behavior and provides a more consistent, intuitive user experience.

Keeping in mind the importance of the user experience, we've enabled Google ads to open in new windows in locations where this is expected browsing behavior. This functionality is determined by the IP of the user, and is not an option you can select your AdSense account.

We also ask that you don't modify the AdSense ad code or alter the result of clicking on an ad on your website, as such behavior violates our program policies.'

I've lucked out on one of the adverts already. I found a new source for parts for Claw_grrl's restored 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix. Thanks, Wizzo!  :yahoo:
