Mayweather-Ortiz Knockout

After a cheeky head butt from Ortiz, Mayweather sees his chance for revenge and takes it with style IMO. The ref had said "box" so it was a legitimate knockout. Go to 7min 40secs to see the best slow mo punch I've ever seen!

Haha - love Larry Merchant at the end - that was a KO itself.

Couple of points - for sure the ref was not even paying attention and was talking to someone outside the ring.  It didn't seem like he had brought them together to box, because he would have stepped back and paid attention.  Even after the first hit, Ortiz was looking at the ref for some help (I think Mayweather DID stand on his foot for that first hit incidentally - a bit hard to protect yourself if you can't back up), but the ref hadn't seen a thing.  Then Mayweather just blindsided him.

Like Merchant said, Mayweather was winning the fight - no need for that sort of thing, and then his bad attitude in the interview sealed it for me.  He could have just said he 'thought' they had resumed fighting, and maybe made a mistake - but he didn't.  Pretty much admitted it by not defending it.

One of the many examples of why I'm not much of a boxing fan...  >:( >:(

According to the rules, unless a boxer is down or the fight has been called, whatever happens between the bells is part of the fight - http://www.hbo.com/#/boxing/fights/2011/09-17-floyd-mayweather-jr-vs-victor-ortiz/article/fight-recap.html.html

...so I'm wrong, but that's partly what's wrong with boxing.

Looked like a dirty punch to me.I liked Merchant saying "I
wished I was 50 years younger I'd kick your ass",so would I ;)

I never have liked Merriweather and now I like him less
Mark Twain once opined, "it's easier to con someone than to convince them they've been conned."
