Warning to Dare & Lonny: This post might make you feel as old as it made me feel!

50 years ago today, 26 September 1962, The Beverly Hillbillies premiered on CBS television.

Here's the original opening with a little known extra verse.

“You can search the world over for the finer things, but you won't find a match for the American road and the creatures that live on it.”

I watched every time it was on from probably the mid sixty's.  Great show.  They could have fun and bring it back...throw in a update twist - make them a trailer park family.

Love the product placement...those cigarette guys had the whole thing figured out decades before anyone else.
The Honey Badger doesn't give a...

Just thank God you have escaped modern North American 'culture'.

The show you describe exists, and it is called 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo'.  It's about a redneck* family whose daughter was popular on 'Toddlers and Tiaras' (another show I'm glad you've missed)

I haven't watched the show, but the media coverage is incredible.  Honey Boo Boo is everywhere, to the point that to get attention Lady Gaga got fat and Madonna had to call Barack Obama a Muslim.

Quite honestly... the words of Douglas Adams have never been truer:

"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

* I apologize if I've misused 'redneck'
** I also apologize for any brain cells that may have been harmed in the watching of this video

How about the great tribute to N.A. culture, Trailer Park Boys? I have to admit, I really like that one!  :DD

Cos,you know what show makes me feel old?
Leave it to Beaver, don't know why
Mark Twain once opined, "it's easier to con someone than to convince them they've been conned."
