I am currently listening to some Alice Cooper, though the most recent CD I've bought (on Tuesday) was Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell II.

Just to lower the tone from John's symphonies, my preferred music of the moment is a group called The Postal Service.  I wrote about them on my music blog and believe that they will prove very influential in the future development of popular music.  They are forcing electronic music into the mainstream and it's about time someone did that.  Add to that the fact that the lyricist is genuinely a gifted poet (I don't hand out that title easily - you can count on the fingers of one hand the lyricists I'd award it to in the last fifty years) and they become a very significant group indeed.  Here's a YouTube video of their best known song, Such Great Heights:

Boxed set of 3 CDs of Alexander Scriabin symphonies. magic. i'm listening to them right now.

Back in my undergrad days, I picked up "Horowitz Plays Scriabin" on vinyl. I found it on CD a few years back. Mostly piano preludes. It's one of my favorite classical albums.

Right now, the discs in my car out in the office parking lot are Brian Setzer Orchestra's "The Dirty Boogie" and a 2 disc set of Frank Sinatra's Reprise recordings.

My all-time fav album is "2:00 am. Paradise Cafe" by Barry Manilow, a jazz album with Gerry Mulligan, Mel Torme, Sarah Vaughan .

Hey, we all have our likes and dislikes, Rom.  I searched for (and found) them all on YouTube and had a quick listen.  From what I heard, only My Dying Bride and In Flames are what I'd call classic metal - the others are better than that.  ;)

Anathema I thought very good, liked their stuff a lot.  Bathory and Moonspell not really my taste but a cut above the usual for their genre, I think.  And I found this cool drum demonstration from Fear Factory (who are quite Nirvana-esque but better):

Never knew metal drumming was so complex...

Chammy, kudos to you mate....I am honestly surprised that anyone would go out to see what those bands are all about.....I am glad you like Anathema, they are one of my fav bands.  Thanks for the link with the demo of Raymond Herraras drumming...that was to one of their really good songs....

I checked them out too, Rom. Not bad at all. :good: I'm forwarding a couple of them on to Claw_Grrrl. She's really into goth.

I'm not really that much of gezzer. The last big concert I went to was Scorpions, Ronnie James Dio and Deep Purple.
