Alien is the scariest monster
« on: February 05, 2008, 10:11:52 AM »
Viewers of Sky Movies, the Sci-Fi and Horror channels have been voting for the all time scariest monster. The results show that viewers think The Alien from the 1979 flick Alien is the scariest monster with 34% of the votes.

The Alien was number one by a mile - second place went to The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers which has just 14% of the votes.

It comes as no surprise that many of the top ten terrifying creatures were made using traditional special effects rather than CGI. Ian Lewis, director of sky movies, has said,

“There’s no doubt that computer-generated creatures look fantastic but this poll would suggest that traditional prosthetic models are still the scariest. With the continuing advances in CGI, I’d be interested to see if new creations like the Cloverfield monster will join the ranks of these classic movie monsters.”

Here they are, the top ten scariest monsters:

1. The Alien (Alien, 1979)
2. The Creeper (Jeepers Creepers, 2001)
3. Jaws (Jaws, 1975)
4. Chucky (Child’s Play, 1988)
5. Pinhead (Hellraiser, 1987)
6. The Crawlers (The Descent, 2005)
7. Werewolf (An American Werewolf in London, 1981)
8. The Pale Man (Pan’s Labyrinth, 2006)
9. Brundlefly (The Fly, 1986)
10. Godzilla (Godzilla, 1998)

Nonsense, I say! everybody knows that the original, 1954 Godzilla was much better than Roland Emmerich's pale, 1998 rip-off.

Today's Trivia Nugget: The original Godzilla was Haruo Nakajima, wearing a 200 pound suit.

Here's a link to my all time favorite Godzilla movie:

Unbelievable, I have never seen Alien, except the one in the other room, hehe.

i disagree with the "alien" being scarey. I'm quite capable of sitting in on my own and watching any of the Alein films. Pinheads movies are a totally different story :swoon:

I'm with you pc - the Hellraiser series scares the crap out of me, while Aliens is really just nifty sci-fi.

The best part of Alien is a young Sigourney Weaver in her skivees! :yahoo:

By the way, Veronica Cartwright, who plays Lambert, is the sister of Angela Cartwright. Angela was Penny Robinson on the old Lost In Space TV series.

I didn't know that, Dare. Did you know that Jerry Springer was born in England, too?

I'll bet you know that Angela played Danny Thomas's daughter on "Make Room For Daddy." Did you know that "The Andy Griffith Show" was spun off of an episode of "Make Room For Daddy?"
