Al Qassimi wins Colin McRae award

As a tribute to Colin McRae and his spectacular jumps an award will be presented annually to the driver who covers the greatest distance in the air.

Quote
Works Ford driver Khalid Al Qassimi won the Swedish Rally's novel new award for the longest jump achieved at a crest made famous by the late Colin McRae.

........

Al Qassimi was airborne for 36 metres after the crest when the Vargasen stage ran on Saturday afternoon. Privateer driver Peter van Marksteijn achieved the second-best flight, but was 90 centimetres shy of Al Qassimi's effort.

A fitting tribute to a fine driver. From what I've read of the man, I think he'd love it.
“You can search the world over for the finer things, but you won't find a match for the American road and the creatures that live on it.”
― Bob Dylan
