Former Champ Car team Conquest Racing has joined forces with Forsythe Performance Research, a subsidiary of the Forsythe Championship Racing team that announced it would not compete in the unified IndyCar Series this year.
Conquest said the alliance will provide the team with technical and engineering resources.
Champ Car stalwart Paul Tracy is likely to be a front-runner for the seat after being left out in the cold--at least temporarily--by Forsythe Racing's decision not to enter the Indy Racing League with its own cars.
In other IRL news, KV Racing, the former Champ Car team co-owned by Kevin Kalkhoven and 1996 CART champion Jimmy Vasser, has renamed itself KV Racing Technology and signed Australian driver Will Power to team with Oriol Servia in the IndyCar Series this year.
Power joins KV thanks to a new sponsorship agreement with Aussie Vineyards-Team Australia. Champ Car team Walker Racing previously held the Team Australia sponsorship. Team owner Derrick Walker said he would not enter IndyCar racing this year.
In two-plus seasons of Champ Car competition and 30 starts, all with Team Australia, Power scored 19 top-10 finishes, including 11 top-five showings with six podium places, two wins and six poles.
