Huh, you was lucky Dare, all we had was 1 channel, and my Dad tuned it in by whacking the top of the cabinet it was in

How about television before the remote
controller or cable tv.

When I was a kid we had 2 tv channels, cut
way down on the channel surfing.

We had 3 (sort of). Had to stick a folded match flap behind the tuner knob to hold channel 10.

Remember sitting up late on summer nights seeing what out-of-area stations you could pick up?

The thing I miss most about TV from years ago is the close down, many nights I was awakened in the armchair by the hissing from the set as the days programmes were ended. And it was only 11.30 in the evening!

Yeah that's right but I still remember awaking to nothing better, perhaps the beer or wine helped.

For a short time after the TV here shut off at night, and before it came on in the morning, we'd get a "test pattern." an odd circular thing that usuallyh had an indian head on it.

You remember correctly, ian. She got interviewed a few years back - I remember she was the daughter of one of the executives, but I can't remember her name...

Around 1963 you could buy a converter box that
would allow you to get one extra channel raising
the total to 3.Unfortually we didn't get the box
that showed all the old horror classics

I knew there had to be some lunatic on the net who would have a website dedicated to test cards.

I looked around the net and found one similar to the ones I used to see.

I know someone who used to film Nazi sado-masochistic orgies but I think that skill may be obsolete now. :DD
