Woman arrested for killing her (virtual) husband
« on: October 25, 2008, 10:37:56 AM »
A 43 year old Japanese woman was recently jailed (in real life) for killing her husband (not in real life) after being charged with suspicion of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data.  :DntKnw:

What happened was a guy divorced his wife (not in real life) in the popular interactive game 'Maple Story', and she was so put out by the whole experience that she logged into his account using the details she got when they were happily married and committed virtual murder - still with me so far?

The man reported her to the police who subsequently turned up and carted her 620 miles from her home to be detained, where's she's waiting to be formally charged but could face up to five years in prison or a fine of $5,000.

Even the police were rather confused by the situation, claiming they weren't sure whether the woman was married in the real world.

This week two Dutch teenagers were convicted of virtual theft in a similar online game and sentenced to community service.

So the moral of the story is...?

Maybe if she's convicted they'll put her
in a virtual prison and let her pay the fine
with virtual money.

Good thing it's not the USA as they might
virtually execute her

The beauty of a 'virtual' relationship is that you can turn her off and shut her up.  :yahoo:
