The Smurfs are 50 years old this week and you can see some official videos of the tiny blue creatures online. Warner Bros has made some short clips of The Smurfs available YouTube.

The band of blue brothers (and one sister  :stop:) quickly became stars in their own right and the first film animations came about in the 1960s.

Papa Smurf, who in the cartoon is significantly older than 50 - 542 years old, in fact - was the wise leader of the Smurfs. Leggy blonde - well, as leggy as you can be when you're only three apples high - Smurfette was the love interest, with several of the male Smurfs competing for her affections.
