Make Real Money by Begging on the Streets
« on: August 15, 2009, 04:38:25 PM »

The police are talking about the rise of the professional street beggar and guess how much they can make a night? . . . It seems if you’re good and in a decent spot you can make £200 a night!

A police force has just revealed that it arrested 20 homeless beggars on the streets in a clampdown only to find none were actually homeless. One woman had a good office job and was doing it to buy a new kitchen !

It’s nothing new of course, fans of Arthur Conan Doyle’s greta detective Sherlock Holmes may well remember The Man with the Twisted Lip when a a gentleman made more money begging than he did working in the city. In more recent times there was the Big Issue seller who not only paid a mortgage and all his bills but managed to accumulate over £40,000 in cash.

Some people seem driven to find an angle and will always survive, if not even prosper, and The Credit Crunch will surely sort out who is who in terms of survival and ingenuity when times get hard.

There was a famous story about a New York, Wall Street broker who lost his job and was getting desperate when he stumbled into begging in the subway. He would get up everyday, dress in his business suit and take the train to the City. There he would change into rags and spend the day begging. After the afternoon rush, he would change back into his suit and go home to his upscale house and family. He made more money as a begger than he had as a broker, though he had been doing quite well before that particular crash. His family never knew until he was outed by a reporter!!
