Title: Team Lotus F1 court verdict may take six weeks more

Battle of the Norfolk based firms must wait on judgement after case ends.
Talk about a never ending story, - or so it seems.

The 10-day High Court trial between Hingham’s Team Lotus and Hethel-based car manufacturer Group Lotus, who now sponsor the Renault F1 team, started on Monday.

Primarily Mr Justice Peter Smith will decide whether Team Lotus are right operate under the iconic Norfolk marque, as well as a number other claims and counter claims between the two parties.

A judgment may not arrive until up to six weeks after the trial has finished, while the result could yet put a question mark over Group Lotus’ involvement with Renault.

A number of witnesses are set to appear over the coming days, with one expected to be former Team Lotus owner David Hunt.

Gascoyne said: “The case hasn’t really distracted us. Formula One has always got shenanigans going on, but really none of that changes our job and the job of all the engineers. We’re going motor racing and we’re just focused on that.”
