Beckham's Team Owner Upset
« on: August 30, 2007, 06:09:39 PM »
I heard this on ESPN's Pardon The Interuption (PTI) last night.

The owner of the L.A. Galaxy, David Beckham's team, is not at all happy with his team's schedule. Club owner Tim Leiweke, president and chief executive of Anschutz Entertainment Group, is complaining that his team is playing far too amny away games.

Major League Soccer (MSL) has the Galaxy playing away games all over the league. There stated goal is to get Beckham the maximum exposure around the country and help boost attendance at all of the teams in the rapidly failing league.

Leiweke said that he isn't going to put up with a schedule like that next year. PTI hosts Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbond said that this was the plan from the start, and that both Leiweke and Beckham were well aware of the fact.

I saw several billboards when I was driving through Kansas City a few weeks back. They had an early picture of The Beatles with the caption "British Invasion - 1964", and a picture of Beckham with the caption "British Invasion - 2007."

I have to admit, I had no idea who he was.
