Not surprised and not sad. Hmm lets see, rich, talented, WHITE...junkie. Junkie boyfriend, junkie friends. Seen it before and I'll see it again.

Not uncaring, just had it with celebrity culture.

Not that surprised, but still an unfortunate loss of a great talent. RIP Amy.

I wasnt a massive fan but enjoyed her music its a shame the music industry has claimed another life due to the pressure of being successful

I have to say, this is all too common in music, and other celebrity driven cultures.

As I think about it though, it doesn't seem to happen in F1 at all.  I have to wonder why.  Sure, there are fewer F1 drivers than most other athletes, but surely one wouldn't be surprised to hear about drivers from Stewart or Moss's era addicted to pain medications.  Or some of the 'young guns' who flame out going into some sort of spiral.

Is it swept under the carpet?

Are there too few F1 drivers for it to happen?

R.I.P. Ms Winehouse, and hopefully she can serve as a lesson to others who might be tempted to follow her lifestyle.

aren't drivers given random drug tests?

I doubt a driver could function at the level F1 requires if he was addicted to anything. If your reflexes were even a couple of hundredths off at 190+ you would soon be toast.

Totally 100% agree. If they are high on anything it's themselves and after the last few F1 documentaries I've seen the remainder of their higher brain functions go towards deciding on the next lady-friend!  :-*

Meanwhile, Amy Winehouse is still dead.
