Guess we'll never know, his Indycar record speaks for itself though.

If we all put in our houses we may be able to afford one or 2 from the back row in the photo, no chance of getting close to the red things in the foreground.  :(

I had other things going on this weekend.  I watched Sprint Qualifying live, it was great.  I watched the Sprint taped and slept through it, so not really sure what happened. I watched the race live, but missed the first five laps, so I know I missed something there.

Honestly, I find it hard to focus on Heroes
Max won the race handily, but he clearly didn't want to be there.  Why should I watch someone who doesn't want to be there?  Max, if you don't want to be there, don't be there.  The FIA, FOM, RBR and anyone else looking to make a buck off Max's work will sit up and take notice if the WDC decides to walk away for a couple of races because of the amount of bullshit he's being expected to put up with.  I agree that he SHOULD suck it up and put on a good face, but then on second thought, why?  Why should he have to put up with things that don't make sense to him?  Why should he be the dancing monkey if he doesn't want to?  F1 needs him more than he needs F1.  The Drivers need to be involved.  It's a star driven sport, and, the sport understood it when Hamilton was the star.  I think Hamilton had more grace than Verstappen when dealing with adversity, but he also got away with a lot with pushing the voice of drivers forwards that Max is getting sh*t for.

But yeah, Max's performance as a driver was heroic, and yeah, his whining is very off putting, but I also think he's right. (Yeah, I didn't expect to champion Max's whining either, but here we are)

Zhou getting points and driver of the day?  Fantastic.  Too little too late, but some drivers rise to pressure, and some drive better without pressure.  F1 is as much pressure as a major athlete is going to get, so I'm glad Zhou could show he's got the skills for F1.

Bottas moving up to 22nd place in a 20 car championship is impressive too.  I think that Sauber has been very poor this year, and certainly could have given up, waiting to become Audi, but they kept working and earned some results.  Very promising for the team to have something they can grow off of moving into 2025

Zeroes

The FIA.

Not every race weekend is going to be the best race weekend, but in terms of weekends without dangerous crashes, this is one of the worst races I've seen.  I understand that Rui Marques was dropped into the race director role.  It's a very high profile situation, and the FIA is very clearly leaning on him to control the drivers with a heavy hand.  The drivers and teams are worn out from a long season, and they're making mistakes and I feel like the FIA is trying to stomp the drivers and teams into submission, and that ends up with on track chaos like we had this weekend.  Yes, Hamilton had a false start, but he hesitated, self policing and losing a place.  In the past, no penalty.  Yes, Norris didn't slow down enough for a yellow flag, but a stop and go penalty, right after a safety car restart effectively put him down 20 extra seconds to what that penalty would be during a normal race situation. Back to Hamilton speeding in the pitlane.  Yes, it's a safety infraction, but he's been in F1 for 20 years and they literally took the will to race from a 7 time world champion.  And yet in terms of 'safety' there was no effort to safely remove debris from the track!  Hamilton and Sainz should have anti penalties, taking 40 seconds off their finished time for being allowed to risk their lives because the FIA wants penalties, not safety.  (Again, I want to be clear, I don't blame Rui Marques on this.  He is in a no win situation, and has to be allowed to make some mistakes before we throw someone else into the Race Director role who isn't ready for it)

I don't know what's going on behind closed doors at the FIA.  I see the news stories.  Historically the person at the top takes the blame, but like all modern power figures, the people at the top are shifting blame, scrambling for power and just not looking out for the things they're supposed to be looking out for.

If anyone tuned into F1 for the very first time this weekend, there is no way, based on the product provided, they'll return.  And that's 100% on the FIA.

I'm not normally on the side of Haas over things, but This proposed cost cap leniency/cost of living adjustment for Audi as their operation is based in Switzerland smacks of lobbying spin outplaying common sense.
Just who is signing off on this at FIA?  :DntKnw:

GM has reached a tentative agreement to be the 11TH F1 team in 2026, however there is no mention of Andretti in the announcement.
